Ministers evaluating the proposals of China and Japan on Indonesia's high speed train project have made a decision regarding their recommendation on the winner of the bid, a senior Indonesian minister disclosed here on Wednesday.

Economic Chief Minister Darmin Nasution said that the recommendation will be conveyed to President Joko Widodo on Thursday, but declined to elaborate further on who the winner is before reporting it to the president.

"We already have a recommendation. We have heard a report from the consultancy explaining both proposals," he said at his ministry after a meeting between a team of ministers tasked to evaluate the proposals and the consultancy.

Earlier Wednesday Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said the president is scheduled to announce the decision on Sept. 7, but Minister Darmin did not confirm this.

Indonesia announced in July it would hold an open bid for the Jakarta-Bandung high speed railway, which is expected to cut the travel time between the two cities from the current three hours to less than 40 minutes. Endi
