India commissions latest naval missile base

India has commissioned its latest naval missile base in western India.

Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar, who launched INS Vajrakosh at Karwar naval base Wednesday, asked personnel to ensure that missiles are always ready for deployment, local media reported Thursday.

The state-owned Defense Research and Development Organization has built the naval base that will serve as a missile storage facility for warships operating in the Western Coast, the reports said, adding that it will also store long-range BrahMos missiles.
