The Czech Republic will send to Hungary 20 soldiers, transport equipment, a field kitchen and an earth borer over the migration crisis, said Czech Chief of Staff Josef Becvar on Friday.

Becvar was checking the preparedness of the army to build a base of humanitarian aid. In the Libava military training grounds, the engineers have built over 40 tents for various purposes, such as accommodation, eating and health care. They could accommodate up to 450 refugees in case the migration influx increases.

The Army wanted to test its readiness to prepare the equipment within a planned schedule.

Becvar said the Czech military is yet to discuss on Oct. 1 the details of sending troops to Hungary, through which the large number of refugees bound for Western Europe.

The soldiers and the equipment are supposed to stay in Hungary for two months, as of about Oct. 15.

Czech Defence Minister Martin Stropnicky also inspected the Libava training grounds on Friday. He said that the planned joint exercises of Czech army and police on the Czech-Austrian border will probably take place on Sept. 30. Endit
