With the Halloween season lurking just around the corner, Vancouverians are looking forward to Fright Nights, which takes place at the city's amusement park Playland throughout all nights of October.
Over the past 12 years, Fright Nights has become legendary among the youngsters of Vancouver, a city in west Canada known as Hollywood North because it also serves as a major film location.
Seven haunted houses, which are like mazes full of morbid and macabre designs, with monsters lurking about inside and out, and 15 rides ensure that visitors get their fill of Halloween thrills and chills.
"It was terrifying. I screamed so much and my friend screamed in my ear a bunch of times, and that made me scream louder," said a visitor called Isabella Crossman.
"You can come out for four hours, five hours, six hours and get absolutely scared stiff, have fun watching people running around," Dennis Aalderink, director of the haunted attractions, told Xinhua.
Organizers, who hired nearly 100 actors to keep the visitors looking over their shoulders, don't recommend the elderly or children under 12 join in the activities. Endi
