Turkish warplanes hit the Islamic State (IS) targets in Syria on Saturday, local NTV news broadcaster reported.

Two F-16 fighter jets launched airstrikes on IS positions at 15:00 p.m. (1200 GMT) in Harcele village of Azaz town in Syria, NTV quoted Turkish military officials as saying.

This is second aerial campaign of Turkish Air Forces against IS targets in Syria since July, as part of the U.S-led coalition forces' operations against the IS group in war-torn Syria.

Ankara joined the U.S.-led bombing raids on IS in July and allowed the coalition to use its bases.

Turkey has been subject to IS attacks, as a recent twin suicide bombing in capital Ankara killed 102 people.

On Wednesday, Ankara Prosecutor's Office said the IS was behind the Ankara bombing and an IS cell received orders from its group in Syria and planned attacks in Turkey.

The group was also behind the Suruc bombing in July, as well as the attacks against pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party headquarters in Mersin and Adana provinces in Southern Turkey, and against HDP rally in Diyarbakir city before June 7 elections, the office said. Endit
