The Chinese and Australian authorities have established a joint taskforce focused on organised criminal syndicates responsible for the exportation of methamphetamine from South-East China into Australia.

The taskforce is China's first international partnership which is a strong testament to the positive relationship between the colleagues of the two nation's law enforcement agencies, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) said in a statement on Monday.

Based in Guangzhou, the task force will collate "significant intelligence" relating to concealment methods, trafficking routes and the criminal syndicates that facilitate methamphetamine imports into Australia.

The partnership will begin an initial six-month trial period when it will be reviewed with the hope of continuing, AFP said. Endit
