Tokyo stocks ended Wednesday's morning session mixed as circumspect investors hit the sidelines ahead of global economic news this week, including he European Central Bank's policy decisions.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 10.28 points, or 0.05 percent, from Tuesday to 20,002.12 at the break, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange added 5.32 points, or 0.33 percent, to close the morning at 1,607.27.
