China's Xinhua News Agency officially launched its Indonesian accounts on social networks Twitter and Facebook here Monday, in a bid to promote understanding between people of China and Indonesia, as well as others using the Indonesian language.

Xinhua's Indonesian Twitter and Facebook accounts, that began trial operation online in early December, provide China and world news everyday in texts, photos and videos.

Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xie Feng congratulated the launching of the accounts, saying the move means the opening of a "window online" for members of the Indonesian community to understand China's development and will serve as a platform for Chinese and Indonesians to listen to each other's voice.

"The China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership is now in the best shape in history and the two peoples have strong and urgent intention to intensify mutual communication and exchanges," the ambassador added.

Indonesian scholar Bambang Suryono, one of the followers of Xinhua's social media accounts, said the contents posted were quite typical and representative.

The accounts - www.facebook.com/xinhuanewsindonesia and twitter.com/xhindonesia - could be an alternative way for Indonesians to know China, Suryono said.
