Palestinian officials denied on Saturday media reports which said the medical situation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has deteriorated.

Nabil Abu Rdineh, an aide to Abbas, said in an official press statements that "President Abbas is in a good health. The reports are fake and suspected and has nothing to do with the reality."

Meanwhile, Ahmed Majdalani, a senior official in Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), told Xinhua that "President Abbas enjoys an excellent health situation and doesn't suffer from any health deterioration."

"Spreading such untrue reports on President Abbas health is not the first time and aims at creating a confusing situation to damage the Palestinian internal stability," said Majdalani.

Several local news websites had earlier reported that within the last few hours, President Abbas' health had deteriorated and he was taken to Jordan for urgent medical treatment.

Abbas, who was born in March 1935, was elected as the president of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) in 2005, where he succeeded late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat who died in 2004. Endit
