Thousands of workers of underwear maker Triumph International Vietnam on Monday gathered in Ho Chi Minh City to protest its salary-slashing decision.

Local workers said Triumph International Vietnam had announced a 5-percent rise in their salary, equivalent to 400,000 Vietnamese dong (17.8 U.S. dollars), in line with Vietnam's relevant regulations. However, the firm has recently announced a cut in the new salary.

To protest the salary-cutting decision, many workers stopped working from Dec. 31, 2015. On Monday morning, thousands of workers gathered at the firm's head office in southern Binh Duong province, and then at its branch in Ho Chi Minh City.

The workers dispersed themselves on the same day, after the firm's representative announced that the 5-percent rise in their salaries would remain unchanged.

Triumph International is an international underwear manufacturer established in 1996 in Germany. Its headquarters has been located in Switzerland since 1977. Enditem
