The Menas of Niger played their hearts out to hold Guinea 2-2 in a Group C match at the Nyamirambo Stadium in the on-going 2016 Africa Nations Championship on Friday.

Issa Mossi Moussa gave the Menas the lead after 37 minutes after a cross from skipper Souleymane Dela Sakou. He placed the ball past advancing Guinea goalkeeper Abdoul Aziz Keita.

The Guinea team responded quickly and leveled matters after a minute with a well taken goal through Aboubacar Sylla.

The Niger team was unlucky to have two players substituted in a space of 15 minutes due to injury.

In the second half substitute Aamou Moussa Issa restored Niger's lead with a neat finish off Adje Victorien Zakaro Adebayor's corner kick.

The Guinea team kept attacking Niger in numbers in search for goals.

Guinea's pressure paid off when substitute Aboubacar Kile Bangoura leveled matters in the 79th minute to make sure they picked a point from the match.

Guinea's coach Mohamed Kanfory Bangoura said he was happy with his players fighting spirit but added that they should have won the game.

"We had so many scoring chances but failed to score," added Bangoura.

Nigeria lead Group C with four points, while Guinea are second with a better goal difference than Tunisia who also have two points from two draws. Endit
