The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Mali (OCHA) has said 354 million U.S. dollars will be required to meet the needs for the communities affected by the Mali crisis in 2016.

According to OCHA statement that was released on Wednesday, the money will be used to fund the third and final part of the 2014-2016 Humanitarian Response Plan that was drafted by key humanitarian actors in Mali.

A total of 127 projects are planned for this year to help close to a million people, mainly in the north and central regions, who have been affected by the conflict.

According to official statistics, food insecurity, malnutrition as well as consequences of violence that was witnessed in Northern and Central Mali will affect over 2.5 million Malians.

The joint response plan by UN agencies and humanitarian agencies covers part of the humanitarian needs by reinforcing people's access to basic social services and improving their income as well as resilience capacities. Enditem
