The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is ending investigations into Japanese abductees in the country in response to Japan's expanded sanctions against it following its fourth nuclear test and rocket launch, state media reported Friday.

The special investigation committee probing the whereabouts of Japanese nationals abducted by DPRK agents decades ago "will be dissolved from Feb. 12, 2016," said a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency. (DPRK-Japan-Abduction)

ADEN -- Five Yemeni policemen were killed on Friday in an armed attack by unknown gunmen in Yemen's southern port city of Aden, a government official told Xinhua.

According to the Aden-based government official, a group of militants believed to be al-Qaida members attacked a police station in Aden's district of Daar Saad, killing five policemen and injuring 3 others. (Yemen-Attack)

BAMAKO -- Two Guinean peacekeepers under the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) were killed with 30 injured, five of whom critically, in a Friday morning attack targeting MINUSMA base in Northern Mali town of Kidal.

Security sources told Xinhua on phone that the attack began on Friday at 06:55 a.m. local time when rockets were launched on the UN forces camp. (Mali-Attack)

ISTANBUL -- Two five-story buildings in Istanbul's busiest Taksim district collapsed on Friday with no casualties reported.
