Three people who got injured in a train-truck collision in Pakistan's south Hyderabad city on Sunday night, succumbed to injuries at a hospital on Monday, rising the death toll of the incident to 11, police said.

Superintendent Police Hyderabad, Rai Mazhar, said that three people died right on the spot while 13 others were shifted to hospital, where eight of them succumbed to injuries and five are being treated by the doctors.

The accident happened at the late hours of Sunday in a village of Hyderabad, a district located in the country's south Sindh province.

Mazhar said that the accident happened when the ill-fated truck tried to cross the railway track from an unmanned crossing and got hit by the train Fareed Express which was on its way to east Lahore city from the country's southern port city of Karachi.

Police said that it is yet unclear why the truck driver, who also got killed in the accident, could not see the approaching train and got his vehicle on the railway track.

The injured people said that they are laborers and were going back to their home in the truck after meeting the village's landlord.

The truck was completely destroyed in the collision while the train's engine got damaged.

Police said that no one got killed or injured on the train and all the victims were from the truck.

Railway traffic was suspended in the area following the accident and was resumed on Monday after the clearance of the track. Enditem
