The Malian government and former armed groups have agreed to organize a forum on peace and national reconciliation in Mali between March 27-30, 2016, to put a closure on the "Algiers peace process," a source said over the weekend.

The revelations were made by Sidi Brahim Ould Sidatt, a representative of former armed groups, following a series of consultations held in Bamako from Feb. 19 to 26 after meeting Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita on Saturday in Bamako.

Ould Sidatt said a two-month timetable, between March and April 2016, for execution of activities that will guarantee public security and restore normalcy across the entire national territory, was adopted.

To achieve this objective, he said, several activities have been planned. They include setting up of interim local authorities, increasing security deployments to contribute to protection of people and acceleration of implementation of the peace agreement that was signed in 2015. Endit
