NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday discussed the Alliance's agenda for the Warsaw Summit in July with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in The Hague.

Praising the Netherlands for being a "committed NATO ally," Stoltenberg said, "You contribute in so many different ways to our collective defense here in Europe, but also to projecting stability to our neighborhood."

The leaders discussed the next steps NATO will take at the Warsaw Summit to respond to a more challenging security environment, according to a NATO press release.

"We are going to increase our forward presence in the eastern part of our Alliance. We have agreed that the forward presence will be a multinational presence," said Stoltenberg.

He stressed that NATO will also take measures to further project stability to its neighborhood at the Summit by training local forces to fight terrorism themselves.

During their talks, Stoltenberg welcomed the Netherlands' efforts to increase defense spending and said this was a first step towards increasing investments in NATO's collective defense and shared security. Enditem
