The Libyan Presidential Council has summoned the French ambassador to Libya to protest French military intervention in the country, council Vice Chairman Ahmed Maiteeg said Saturday.

The council rejects French intervention in Libya, Maiteeg told a press conference.

French President Francois Hollande revealed on Wednesday that three French soldiers were killed in Libya in an intelligence mission.

Dozens of Libyans on Friday protested before the Foreign Ministry in Tripoli against French military intervention in Libya and accused the government of "allowing foreign occupation."

The Presidential Council on Wednesday issued a statement condemning French involvement in Libya. "The Presidential Council deplores the announced French presence in eastern Libya without knowledge of the council," the statement said.

"We appreciate and support the international effort and alliance to fight terrorism. However, this does not justify any intervention without prior coordination with us." Endi
