Top U.S. commander of special operations in Europe assures Lithuania of military cooperation

The top U.S. commander of special operations in Europe reassured Lithuania on Friday that military cooperation between both countries would only grow in the future.

Major General Mark C. Schwartz, the commander of U.S. Special Operations Command Europe, visited the Baltic state and met with the chief of Lithuanian army Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Zukas.

Lithuanian and U.S. commander discussed the security situation and military cooperation, according to a press release issued by the Lithuanian defense ministry.

Lithuania's chief of defense invited the U.S. special operation forces to continue attending military exercises in the Baltic states "to enhance interoperability and coordination of actions with special forces and other services."
