The Greek parliament published on Wednesday the wealth declarations of a total of 807 current and past members of the assembly for the financial years 2014-2015.

The so-called "pothen esches" (meaning the source of assets in Greek) contains the assets of deputies according to their declarations to tax offices and was introduced two decades ago as part of efforts to boost transparency and fight corruption.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras reported the amount of 74,002 euros (76,910 U.S. dollars) as income, one apartment, one motorcycle and bank deposits of 23,672 euros.

Panos Kammenos, defense minister and leader of the right-wing Independent Greeks party which co-rules with the Radical Left SYRIZA of Tsipras, was the richest political leader.

Kammenos and his wife declared income of 165,633 euros and six properties, three cars, a boat and deposits of 8,538 euros.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, leader of the conservative main opposition New Democracy party, reported 88,571 euros as income, a car and deposits of 61,359 euros.

Approximately 120,000 Greeks are obliged to submit "pothen esches" each year, including mayors, judges, bankers, police officers, journalists and other professionals.

Those who fail to submit the declarations or include inconsistencies would face fines of 150 euros to 500,000 euros and up to two years imprisonment. (1 euro= 1.04 U.S. dollars) Endit
