Although round 24 in the A-League saw a number of upsets, Sydney F.C. did not falter, taking out the Perth Glory 3-0 away from home on Sunday.
With their place as minor premiers already cemented, there was no let up in intensity from the travelling side, who dominated a lackluster Glory.
On Friday, the Western Sydney Wanderers gave their dedicated home fans something to cheer about with a 3-1 win over Melbourne City.
Despite City scoring in the opening three minutes, the Wanderers bounced back with Brendon Santalab sealing the match with a hat-trick.
In what turned out to be the match of the round on Saturday, Adelaide United traded places with the Central Coast mariners, moving off the bottom of the ladder with a spirited victory away from home.
The back and forth affair saw United hold on 3-2, with Senegalese import Baba Diawara picking a up a double.
There was good news for Queensland fans, as the Brisbane Roar returned to form with a 1-0 win over the Melbourne Victory on Saturday night.
The Roar's goal came at the hands of a Jamie Maclaren screamer, which saw the Australian striker lob the ball over the keeper from outside the box.
On Sunday the Wellington Phoenix steam rolled the Newcastle Jets 5-0 in New Zealand.
The win means Wellington are just five points away from sixth position and a place in the final series.
For the Jets, especially their back four, it was a day to forget. Endit
