BUDAPEST, June 19 (Xinhua) -- "Promoting health for all" was the slogan of the 3rd CEEC-China Health Minister's Meeting, an international conference with the participation of more than 200 delegates coming from China and the Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC), which started here on Monday.

The conference is jointly hosted by China's National Health and Family Planning Commission and the Human Capacities Ministry and the National Economy Ministry of Hungary.

Speaking on behalf of the Hungarian government, Zsolt Semjen, Deputy Prime minister, said that Hungary wanted to become the motor of the cooperation between the region of CEEC and China.

It is time to expand cooperation between China and the CEEC from financial and industrial sectors to health and medical fields. "And we want Hungary to act as an active builder and catalyst in this context," Semjen said.

He said that the conference was a feedback for Hungary, pointing at the fact that the medical performance of the country is noticeable on an international level, and can be seen as an example for many other countries.

"The region of the CEEC is one of the most rapidly developing regions of the European Union (EU) ...," he explained. "On the other hand, China is one of the world's largest economies, and when two great dynamically expanding regions decide to work together: great things can happen, even more when the area of cooperation is the health industry," he underlined.

He praised China for being open towards CEEC, thanks to its "One Belt One Road" policy, and recalled that Hungary, like many other countries, has opted for an Eastern Opening Policy, the aim of which was to draw the majority of China's European investments to the region.

He also stressed that the CEEC were always looking to build good relations with China by honouring its ancient culture and traditions. A good example for that was that prevention was at the heart of both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hungarian health policy.

Zoltan Balog, Minister of Human Capacities, responsible for health in Hungary, said "The future is in the cooperation of East and West, and the future of the world is inconceivable without China."

He called the region of CEEC as one that was growing spectacularly, but was playing in a different league than China.

He then proceeded to list the main points of the Budapest declaration, adopted by the participants of the conference.

"We have a joint statement related to health development and cooperation. The essence is being able to move from an illness centered approach to a prevention centered approach. And an important part of this is the role of traditional medicine and related cooperation in this area," he concluded. Enditem
