COLOMBO, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) was awarded the Best Container Terminal Asia in under 4 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) category at the 2017 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS), according to the statement released by CICT on Tuesday.

The candidates for the Best Container Terminal Asia in the under 4 million TEUs category included CICT, Busan New Container Terminal, and Jakarta International Container Terminal.

The AFLAS awards is organized by Singapore-based freight and logistics publication Asia Cargo News, and is bestowed based on the online ballots from Asia Cargo News readers.

The CICT is a joint venture between China Merchant Holding International and the Sri Lanka Port Authority, and achieved over 1.5 million TEUs in 2015. Enditem
