Hyundai Motor posts double-digit fall in Q2 profit

SEOUL, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Hyundai Motor, South Korea's biggest automaker, posted a double-digit fall in its second-quarter operating profit, a regulatory filing showed Wednesday.

Operating profit was 1.34 trillion won (1.2 billion U.S. dollars) in the April-June quarter, down 23.7 percent from a year earlier.

Revenue shed 1.5 percent over the year to 24.31 trillion won in the quarter, and net income plunged 48.2 percent to 913.63 billion won.

For the first six months of this year, revenue grew 1.4 percent to 47.67 trillion won in the June quarter.

However, operating profit slipped 16.4 percent from a year earlier to 2.6 trillion won in the first half, and net income tumbled 34.3 percent to 2.32 trillion won. Enditem
