FRANKFURT, July 27 (Xinhua) -- German shares lost on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index down 93.07 points, or 0.76 percent, to close at 12,212.04 points.

German banking and financial services provider Deutsche Bank lost the most among the blue chips, down by 5.65 percent, followed by multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen, which lost 3.09 percent and 2.20 percent respectively.

German insurance and financial services company Allianz, housing association Vonovia and telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom were the top three winners, rising 1.76 percent, 0.99 percent and 0.83 percent respectively.

Bayer was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 482.61 million euros (564.36 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
