VILNIUS, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- More than 8,000 professional and ammateur cyclists took part in Velomarathon Vilnius 2017 on Sunday, aiming to promote the core values of Lithuanian cycling culture: ecology, family, health and traffic safety.

According to the organizers, the annual velomarathon inaugurated in 2010 features the short-distance races for children, 50km for amateurs, and 50km and 100km for professionals. The track of the "Velomarathon" is situated at the heart of Vilnius, the old town.

Promoted by Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite and supported by many famous local business and media, the event draws thousands of cyclists from over 20 countries and regions, including Russia, three Baltics and Germany. Enditem
