Namibia books African Nations Championship ticket

WINDHOEK, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's football team gunned down Comoros on Sunday in the return fixture of the 2018 CAF African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifiers final round on Sunday in Windhoek.

The 2-0 win by Namibia means that the 'Brave warriors' will participate in 2018 CHAN finals.

Veteran Namibian striker Muna Katupose came from the bench to score two headers and seal Namibia's qualification which they won 3-2 on aggregate.

In a post-match interview, Namibia's coach, Ricardo Mannetti said that they had the away goal which was to their advantage and furthermore they had a plan.

"The past week we planned on a lot of scenarios and I am so proud it worked and we are through. It is sweet victory for all of us from the fans to the players. We have qualified for Kenya," he said.

Despite going into the half-time goalless, Mannetti said that he was confident that the boys would rise to the occasion.

The 2018 CHAN which is for local-based players will be hosted in Kenya from Jan. 11 to Feb. 2 next year. Enditem
