Indonesian foreign tourist arrivals grow nearly 26 pct in first 8 months

JAKARTA, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- The number of foreign holiday maker visiting Indonesia from January to August expanded 25.68 percent to 9.25 million people on year, national statistics bureau announced here on Monday.

In August, the number of foreign visitor in Indonesia expanded 36.11 percent to 1.4 million people, head of the bureau Kecuk Suhariyanto said.

China, followed by Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan contributed the most to Indonesian foreign tourist arrival in August, with contribution respectively 15.83 percent, 8.06 percent, 8.75 percent, 8.71 percent and 4.9 percent, Suhariyanto told a press conference at the bureau headquarters.
