TOKYO, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday as the market mood here was brightened by Wall Street's record rally overnight on signs Congress is closer to a deal on a budget and tax cuts.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 82.94 points, or 0.40 percent, from Thursday to 20,711.50.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 7.58 points, or 0.45 percent, to 1,690.07.
Mining, insurance and real estate issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
