LUANDA, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) Artur Almeida e Silva on Friday pledged to ban corrupt referees and officials who continue attempting to tarnish the national football.

Speaking to the press after his first working visit to Lubango city, southern Huila province, where he witnessed the closuring of a level-1 coach course and visited sports facilities, the FAF official admitted that refereeing has improved and that punishment of offenders has discouraged bad practices.

"We are doing a good job with the referees but a lot of corruption cases have been reported to some clubs," he said.

Almeida advised the official to look at the positive aspect of the sporting truth, so that everyone can win.

He said two cases had been referred to the court, without specifying what it was.

The official added that there had never been so many referees punished in Angola as in his term. Enditem
