MINSK, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank raised Belarus' economic growth to 1.8 percent this year, according to its updated report released on Monday.

The report said the recovery of the Russian economy contributes to the restoration of economic growth in Belarus in 2017, thanks to which the Belarus' exports begin to grow.

Meanwhile, as structural problems in the Belarusian economy remain, the potential for accelerating economic growth is limited, the the World Bank noted.

Currently, it is extremely important for Belarus to increase the size of the private sector, reduce the size of the public sector and strengthen the social protection system to protect the most vulnerable social groups in the process of economic transformation, the bank added.

World Bank economists also said that an increase in the level of public debt and a directive task to increase the incomes of the population create risks for imbalances in the future.

Belarus' GDP grew by 1.7 percent in the first three quarters, comparing with the same period of last year. Enditem
