ABUJA, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Two policemen were killed Tuesday when gunmen stormed a construction site in central Nigeria, according to local police.

A Portuguese working on the construction site in the central Nigeria's state of Kogi was also abducted, police spokesman William Aya told Xinhua.

The gunmen, numbering 15 or more, stormed the construction site from a nearby bush and opened fire on the security personnel on guard at the place, Aya said.

The Portuguese, a civil engineer, and some locals were inspecting a road construction project in Kabba area of Kogi State when the gunmen struck.

The local police have launched an investigation into the incident in order to apprehend the culprits, Aya said. Enditem
