TOKYO, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday as U.S. technology shares' overnight rally lifted major U.S. bourses, the gains of which were tracked in early trade here.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 218.54 points, or 0.97 percent, from Tuesday to 22,635.02.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 11.10 points, or 0.63 percent, at 1,782.23.
Oil and coal product, electric appliance and machinery-oriented stocks comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
