France's jobless claims inches up by 0.2 pct in October

PARIS, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- The number of jobless people in France was slightly up by 0.2 percent in October after it fell by 1.8 percent a month earlier, data released by the Labor Ministry showed on Friday.

At the end of last month, additional 8,000 jobless people entered the domestic labor market with the country's total number of jobseekers increasing to 3.483 million, the ministry said in its monthly report.

Over the period, joblessness rose among all age groups, with the highest rate being recorded among the senior jobseekers at 0.5 percent.

The French government targets to lower jobless rate to 7 percent by 2022 from current 9.4 percent. Enditem
