Dollar drops to upper 110 yen zone amid concerns over U.S. gov't shutdown

TOKYO, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar edged down to the upper 110 yen zone Friday in Tokyo amid concerns over a possible partial shutdown of the U.S. government.

At 5 p.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 110.69-70 yen compared with 111.06-16 yen in New York and 111.23-25 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Thursday. It moved between 110.67 yen and 111.13 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.2271-2272 dollars and 135.83-87 yen against 1.2234-2244 dollars and 135.87-97 yen in New York and 1.2206-2208 dollars and 135.77-81 yen in Tokyo late Thursday afternoon. Enditem
