HARARE, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe's ruling ZANU-PF party has expelled 11 legislators from parliament for not representing its interests, state media New Ziana reported Friday.

The expelled Members of Parliament (MPs) are believed to be allies of former President Robert Mugabe who resigned in November.

The expulsion came after the party in November also expelled five legislators allied to Mugabe and his wife Grace.

Among those expelled so far are former cabinet ministers Ignatius Chombo, Jonathan Moyo, Walter Mzembi and Samuel Undenge.

Zimbabwe's new president Emmerson Mnangagwa assumed power in November after the resignation of Mugabe. The ruling party has chosen him as its presidential candidate in elections to be held mid this year. Enditem
