LONDON, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- A season of special Winston Churchill events and tours is being planned at Britain's Houses of Parliament to coincide with the release in Britain of the movie, Darkest Hour.

The film captures dramatic events during World War II when Churchill served as prime minister. It was released in the U.S. in November, but has only just reached cinemas in Britain.

A "Churchill Tour Experience" will take place at the Houses of Parliament on Jan. 26, with hour-long tours reflect Churchill's parliamentary career that spanned 64 years.

Visitors will have a chance to view facsimiles of original documents, correspondence and photographs relating to Churchill's life in the House of Commons.

Churchill' Guided Tours are also taking place on Saturdays until Feb. 17. For 90 minutes, a guide will take visitors on a fun and informative tour which has been adapted to focus on Churchill's long career in Parliament.

Highlights of the tour include visits to both the House of Commons Chamber and Lords Chamber where Churchill debated many matters of national and international interest.

Churchill led Britain to victory in the World War II, but in the general election of 1945, Labour swept to power, ending his rule as prime minister. Six years later, Churchill returned to 10 Downing Street for a further four years. After his death in 1965, he was given the rare honor of a state funeral. Enditem
