Saudi top scholar asserts women's right to exercise on public roads

RIYADH, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Saudi top scholar Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Mutlaq asserted on Friday the right of women to exercise on public roads, Sabq local online news reported.

The member of the Council of Senior Scholars highlighted to a local radio channel that there are no religious reasons that forbid women from exercising as they are similar to men need sports for their good health.

The opinion of the scholar comes with the recent developments in Saudi Arabia that include more rights for females, including rights to drive cars and attend various public events that were limited to men for decades, such as football matches and concerts. Enditem
