Zambia's top female referee to officiate at women U-20 World Cup

LUSAKA, May 10 (Xinhua) -- A Zambian top female referee has made the final cut for the 2018 FIFA Women U-20 World Cup as one of the officials, the country's soccer governing body said on Thursday.

Gladys Lengwe is one of two African referees with Ethiopia's Abebe Tafesse to make the cut that comprise 15 referees from across the globe, according to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

The officials at the U-20 Women Cup will also be in charge of the FIFA women World Cup in France next year, the soccer governing body added.

The association said the appointment of the female referee adds to the feat the country has recorded among referee following the appointment of Janny Sikazwe who will be at the men's World Cup which starts next month. Enditem
