BEIJING -- The African Union (AU) is a banner of unity and strength and actively pushes forward the process of African integration.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Sunday in his congratulatory message to the opening of the AU summit in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania.

He wishes that greater achievements would be scored by African countries under the guidance of the AU.

MANAMA -- "There has been huge efforts made by Chinese government to preserve the heritage sites, not only cultural ones, but natural ones."

Mechtild Rossler, director of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Center, sadi in an interview with Xinhua on Saturday.
