BEIJING -- China's stock market saw a V-shaped rebound on Tuesday, lifted by strong performance in software, chips and semiconductor industries during the afternoon session.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index once slumped 1.9 percent in the morning, but managed to end up 0.41 percent to close at 2,786.89 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Tuesday.

The market continued to trade higher amid consolidation in middle hours of trade, backed by index heavyweights Reliance Industries, Infosys and TCS.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 112.83 points, or 1.96 percent, to a level of 5,633.93 on Tuesday.

Some 391,164 transactions were booked, involving 8,1 billion copies of shares with a value of 7.2 trillion rupiah (about 500.6 million U.S. dollars).

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Tuesday moved up 19.35 points, or 1.20 percent to close at 1,626.62 points.

Some 15.30 billion shares worth 58.57 billion baht (about 1.77 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Tuesday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,680.37 down 4.68 points or 0.28 percent, and the Emas was at 11,884.83 down 34.38 points or 0.29 percent.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.09 percent or 3.04 points to close at 3,235.9.

A total of 1.84 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.13 billion Singapore dollars (about 826.96 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 202 to 176.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 906.01 points on Tuesday, down 41.14 points, or 4,34 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

Over 180.699 million shares worth 4.527 trillion Vietnamese dong (199 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange. Prices of 64 stocks went up, 247 stocks decreased, and 53 stocks remained unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 98.8 points on Tuesday, down 3.97 points or 3.86 percent against the previous trading session.

Nearly 41.48 million shares worth over 619.4 billion Vietnamese dong (some 27.29 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Tuesday. Specifically, foreign investors bought 2.5 million shares valued at 42.35 billion Vietnamese dong (1.87 million U.S. dollars), and sold 2.09 million shares valued at 33.63 billion Vietnamese dong (1.48 million U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 409.54 points, or 1.41 percent, to 28,545.57 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 27,990.45 and 28,617.0. Turnover totaled 133.04 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 16.95 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.55 percent higher on Tuesday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 39.38 points to 7267.34. The all-share index went up by 11.68 points, or 0.27 percent, to 4409.83.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market closed higher on Tuesday, with most sectors posting strong gains, except for commodities which suffered from falling base commodity prices.

At close of market, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 was up 32.40 points or 0.52 percent at 6,210.20, while the broader All Ordinaries was up 29.50 points or 0.47 percent at 6,302.80.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended slightly higher Tuesday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 1.22 points, or 0.05 percent, to settle at 2,272.76. Trading volume stood at 360.73 million shares worth 5.87 trillion won (5.25 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Tuesday as despite picking up shares on dips following a plunge a day earlier, investors became risk averse as some major Asian bourses lost ground in later trade.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 26.39 points, or 0.12 percent, from Monday to close the at 21,785.54.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Tuesday up 0.21 percent compared to the previous trading day.
