MONTEVIDEO, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro has been recalled to Uruguay's national squad for next month's international friendly against Mexico in the United States.

The Celeste squad also includes star strikers Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez as well as Atletico Madrid's central defensive pairing of Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez, the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) said in a statement.

Lodeiro has not represented Uruguay since last November and was left out of Oscar Tabarez's World Cup squad this summer.

The 29-year-old has been in sparkling form for Seattle in the MLS with six goals and seven assists in the past two months.

Uruguay's under-20 boss Fabian Coito has been named the Celeste's interim head coach for the September 7 friendly in Houston.
