MINSK, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Newly-appointed Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas on Monday promised to maintain the current policies, local media reported.
"We should not expect any revision of the adopted decisions or revolutionary moves," Rumas said during the presentation of the new government.
The prime minister considered his new job as "a great responsibility and challenge for him personally."
"Today, perhaps the most important stage in my life begins, and it will require all of my energy, skills and experience that I have gained in my previous positions," he said.
On Saturday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko dismissed top government officials for failing to fulfill his instructions and appointed Rumas, previously the head of the Development Bank of Belarus, as the prime minister. Enditem
