LONDON, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.55 percent, or 39.82 points, to close at 7,313.36 points.
British American Tobacco, a British multinational tobacco company, soared 5.87 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Imperial Brands and Glencore increased by 3.18 percent and 2.86 percent respectively.
SSE, a Scottish energy company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 8.28 percent. Centrica, a British multinational energy and services company, dropped 3.61 percent. Ocado Group, an online grocery retailer, fell 2.30 percent. Enditem
