ZURICH, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Former Dominican Republic football chief Osiris Guzman has been handed a 10-year ban for corruption, FIFA said on Friday.

The world football governing body's ethics committee also fined Guzman 150,000 Swiss francs (around 150,000 US dollars) after he was found guilty of participating in a bribery and kickback scheme.

The ruling bars the former official from all football-related activities at both national and international level.

During the probe, Guzman served an interim sentence barring him from attending World Cup matches and participating in the vote for the 2026 World Cup hosting rights. Enditem
