Tunisia to host Huawei ICT Academy competition

TUNIS, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia will host the Huawei ICT Academy competition for the 2018-2019 season, Mohamed Anouar Maarouf, Tunisian Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, announced Tuesday.

"This event will put Tunisia in the forefront of technological advances," Maarouf said during a press conference, adding that adequate regulations and preferential tax benefits, favoring the creation of projects and investments in the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) field, will be provided.

Sonia Triki, Tunisian head of Huawei ICT Academy competition, explained this competition will take place in three stages, the first of which will begin next week to focus on the selection of 50 students from seven Tunisian universities specialized in ICT.

The second stage will include the selection of three out of 50 Tunisian students to participate in an international competition in May 2019 in China. The last stage will be dedicated to strengthening Tunisian ICT capacities.

Huawei ICT Academy is a partnership between Huawei and academies around the world. Through this mechanism, the competition offers training, encourages students to develop talents with practical skills for the ICT industry. Enditem
