TEHRAN, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- The number of foreign companies attending Iran's International Auto Parts Exhibition declined this year compared to the number of attendees in the past year, Eghtesadonline news website reported on Tuesday.
The 13th Iran International Auto Parts Exhibition opened on Monday in Tehran, in which 191 foreign and 526 local automotive firms participated.
The figure registers a critical decline in the ongoing event as more than 540 foreign companies and exhibitors attended the event in 2017, according to the report.
Parts makers from China, India, South Korea, France, Poland, and Turkey are seen in this year's event.
The climate of the event this year is heavily influenced by the fresh U.S. sanctions against the Islamic republic.
The first part of the U.S. sanctions on Iran snapped back on August 7, targeting Iran's automotive sector, trade in gold, and other key metals.
Washington imposed second round of sanctions on Nov. 5, targeting Iran's energy, financial and shipping sectors. Enditem
