PORT MORESBY -- Chinese President Xi Jinping called on Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies to bring their cooperation to a higher level based on a keen appreciation of the trend of the world and its economy.

Underlining the trend of economic globalization, economic integration in the region, and an open economy, Xi urged the economies to keep the momentum of Asia-Pacific cooperation during a speech at the 26th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting hosted by Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill here on Sunday. SAN DIEGO, The United States -- Officers of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have tightened preparations at the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego, California, for the arrival of massive caravans of Central American migrants.

In the Border Field State Park, which is on the very southwestern corner of the United States and 15 miles (24 km) south of San Diego, CBP personnel set up wire protection net on the border fence on Friday. (US-Mexico-Caravans)

NEW DELHI -- At least 12 people were killed and 13 others injured on Sunday after a passenger bus skidded off the road and falls into a gorge in northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, police said.

ADEN, Yemen -- Unidentified gunmen on Sunday shot dead a senior official from the Yemeni security forces backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the southern port city of Aden, a government official told Xinhua.

A group of masked gunmen wearing military uniforms opened a barrage of bullets at Col. Fahed Ghramah who was leaving his house in Aden's neighborhood of Enma, killing him instantly, the government source said on condition of anonymity. (Yemen-Assassination)

TEHRAN -- Iran and Iraq are in talks to finalize a currency swap agreement in a bid to boost trade ties between the two neighboring countries, a trade official was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency on Sunday.
