TOKYO -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.0 struck off the coast of Japan's Fukushima prefecture on Friday, Japan Meteorological Agency said.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa Friday confirmed death sentences to 11 hardcore terrorists for their involvement in heinous offenses related to terrorism in the country, the military said.

DHAKA -- The pilot of a training plane of Bangladesh Air Force died after his plane crashed Friday in the country's central Tangail district, some 97 km away from capital Dhaka, the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) of the Bangladesh Army said.

YANGON -- A joint committee of China and Myanmar on science and technology cooperation held their first meeting in Yangon Friday to seek strengthening of partnership in research, human resource development and technology transfer for promoting sustainable development.
