KABUL -- A U.S. soldier was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday, the NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) confirmed.

"One U.S. service member was killed in Afghanistan today. In accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the name of the service member killed in action is being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete," the RS said in a statement. (Afghanistan-U.S.-Soldier)

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir -- Bullet-riddled body of a former special police officer (SPO) was found in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said on Saturday.

The former SPO Basharat Ahmad Wagay was abducted by militants Friday evening from Rebban-Zainpora of Shopian district, about 70 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir. (India-Militants-Policeman) Enditem
