BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.04 percent, at 2,574.67 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.25 percent higher at 7,635.16 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.83 percent to close at 1,315.43 points.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 9.18 points, or 0.15 percent, to a level of 6,013.58 on Tuesday.

Some 444,424 transactions were booked, involving 10.7 billion copies of shares with a value of 8.9 trillion rupiah (about 613.5 million U.S. dollars).

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Tuesday.

Among sectors, IT and pharma are trading in the green, while metals have continued to be weak.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Tuesday moved up 3.50 points, or 0.21 percent to close at 1,630.77 points.

Some 14.99 billion shares worth 36.83 billion baht (about 1.12 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Tuesday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,684.97 down 17.02 points or 1.00 percent, and the Emas was at 11,672.47 down 134.85 points or 1.14 percent.

SINGAPORE -- Singaporean stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went down 0.1 percent or 2.98 points to close at 3,090.4.

A total of 1.83 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.04 billion Singaporean dollars (about 755.22 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 192 to 185.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 44.22 points, or 0.17 percent, to 26,331.96 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 26,158.97 and 26,417.84. Turnover totaled 78.41 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 10.03 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher on Tuesday as investor sentiment was bolstered by a rise in overseas equity markets and the Dow Jones index snapping a four-day losing streak.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 140.40 points, or 0.64 percent, from Monday to 21,952.40.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 103.19 points on Tuesday, down 0.79 points or 0.76 percent from the previous trading session.

Prices of 72 stocks went up, 75 stocks dropped, while 227 stocks remained unchanged.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher Tuesday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 16.40 points, or 0.79 percent, to settle at 2,099.42. Trading volume stood at 235 million shares worth 4.4 trillion won (3.9 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.21 percent higher on Tuesday.
